Our Ministry Teams
The Christian Education Ministry Team provides spiritual formation and fellowship for our children and youth. The team coordinates full-time nursery care, Sunday School, holiday activities (Palm Sunday, Easter, Christmas pageant), youth confirmation classes (with the Pastor), and camperships (scholarships) for summer camp at Camp Adams.
The Mission and Outreach Ministry Team coordinates community outreach and partnerships with organizations working in our local community. We support PCUCC’s participation in the “5 for 5” UCC special offerings, sustain relationships with SnowCap (through the auction and Soupertunities), Human Solutions, and the Village Support Network. A new “Movies and Meaning” project for the coming year will include hosting a movie, potluck and discussion night each quarter focused on a social justice concern.
The Parish Life Ministry Team oversees the social and spiritual life of the church, including hospitality (coffee time), ushers and acolytes, worship support (lectors, worship leaders, choir), and fellowship and holiday events, such as our Harvest Home Potluck (Sunday before Thanksgiving), Hanging of the Greens, Christmas Eve and Easter. Ad-hoc teams are formed each year to coordinate special events including the annual Auction fundraiser and

Rummage Sale. The Parish Life Ministry team meets quarterly (more often as needed) on Saturday morning at the church. Sub-teams of Parish Life include the Ushers, Hospitality Team and Parish Care. The Parish Care Ministry Team provides regular visits, prayer and support of homebound members, including monthly communion visits with Pastor Don. The team coordinates cards and holiday gifts from the congregation for homebound members and prays faithfully for the congregation.
The Peace and Justice Ministry Team is a group of concerned citizens who want to make a difference in our community. Their mission is to educate and advocate for systemic change to promote peace and social justice. Members work locally to promote measures that help people and the environment, show up for community events to stand up for fairness in our society, and learn through reading about current issues and sharing with each other. Each member is free to follow their passion to help others.
The Finance Ministry Team includes the church’s Financial Secretary (responsible for recording deposits) and Treasurer (responsible for paying bills) and other members. The FMT oversees the church’s budget and provides a monthly report to the PCUCC church council on income and expenses. Members of this team are responsible for year-end giving statements and annual budget development. Future goals include developing procedures for financial officers and establishing a procedure for archiving records.
The Trustees Ministry Team provides oversight of facility usage, building maintenance, repairs, storage and security. Previous projects have including planting the bio-swale and parking lot areas and coordinating the orchard with the Portland Fruit Tree Project.
